Kicking it old school

Hearken ye brave adventurers!

Today I can proudly announce that I´m doing the interior illustrations for the illustrious swedish roleplaying game Drakar och Demoner (Dragons and Demons). For the non-Swedish readers this game is as legendary for swedes as Dungeons and Dragons is to english speakers - since it´s debut in 1982 it has sold over 100.000 copies.

The game will be very much a back to basics deal: black box with the old logo and Wheelan cover, the old Ereb Altor setting, ducks as a playable race and so on.

The kickstarter is live now and the game is to be released the coming summer:

  6. Great stuff! The art really makes or breaks an RPG book, in my opinion. This makes me want to play a badass duck fighter, and I never thought I would say that in my entire life. I wonder what a duck wizard would look like? Hmm...

    1. I think I played a duck necromancer once back in the day...

  7. This reminds me of "The life and times of Scrooge McDuck" from Don Rosa!

  8. Hooray! I'll go back this – even though it's the '87 edition and not the '91 that got me into the hobby :-)

    1. This is the original! But the 91 version was pretty good... The illustrations were wierd though...

  9. The picture brings back memories of the Runequest RPG which was far better than D&D (in my opinion) & featured Ducks as a minor race! 😊

    1. Yeah - I think Drakar och Demoner was loosely based on Runequest - hence the ducks!
