Heart of iron

Many cultists of Mhorrigot ritually replace their hearts with mechanical implants, making them - quite literally - heartless.

Some go ever further and rid themselves of their soft human bodies altogether and implant their living brains into robotic bodies. While superficially resembling servitors, these hulking constructs retain all their free will, though the process leaves them cold and utterly void of human emotion.

Roboreaper

Work on the mhorrigotii mech continues. Changed the marine head to a scion helmet and added a cowl with that distinctive widows peak that's becoming a signum for the mhorrigotii cultists.

I'll add a few more wires, but apart from that he's starting to look pretty finished.

We can make him stronger, faster... Eviler.

Some bionic heavy reinforcements for the Mhorrigotii minions.

Not finished by a longshot, there's chains, nails and tattered cloth to add, but it's a start.

League of Assassins

The cult of Mhorrigot grows...

Finished the new member of the band:

Here's a groupshot with the rest of the gang. I think that should be enough spears and scythes...

And here's a work in progress death cult assassin:

Spiky bits

Well, guess I'm back in grimdarky territory...

Here's a new mhorrigotii cultist to complement the one I did last year. I intentionally stayed pretty close to the first cultist, using the same sickle arm and wraith helmet, but made him less hunched and frail-looking.

Oldhammer

I've been feeling a certain fatigue towards inq-themed grimdarkyness (though that's in all probability a passing phase) and have had a strong urge to paint something different. The question was what?

JRNs last post provided the answer - old school Kev Adams night goblins!!

A rummage around in the attic and a few hours of frenzied painting resulted in this little bugger. I've completely forgotten just how much fun these green smurfs are to paint.
..

Here's some snapshots of the process:

Bone basecoat

Foundation - kept the skin bright and the rest rather dark to provide contrast

Washes - skin camoshade, the rest earthshade and nuln oil

Highlights and glazes

Hexbase! Love the old-school feel of these.

Painted the base with GW textured paint

Conchord v.II

Retouched Conchord somewhat, trying to adress some if the things that bugged me. Added some more freehand decorations to get rid of overly flat surfaces and add a more knightly heraldic feel.

A common warhammer trope is an overabundance of skull motifs on the models - Chonchord on the other hand is covered top to toe with =I= symbols...

Plight of the Conchord

Carax's nemesis Inquisitor Conchord is starting to reach a presentable stage:

Not quite there yet, though... Been working on this guy for what seems like forever, and I'm still not quite happy with it. The face especially turned out a bit sloppy so I have to go back and fix that, plus some other details that need some more work.

John also suggested applying gloss varnish on the red armour bits which just might add that little extra umphh..,
