Le freak, c'est chic

This weekend I stayed at home after a rather intense party week in the swedish summer sun (contrary to what some of you may believe considering the rate at which I crank out these minis, I actually do have an active social life...).

Started painting the inquisitrix made a while ago, but that didn't turn out the way I wanted it so she was put to the side. I'll get back to her later on, when I know what to do with her.

Instead I cobbled together this guy  continuing the recent mutie/twist/freak trend.

Herr Doktor

Finished up the interrogator.
Changed his helmet to a muddy white in an effort to make him less chaotic looking, but not completely convinced if that plan worked. At all.

However I kinda like this vicious bugger anyway. I like to think he speaks with a german accent:

"Ah - ze patient is awake. Time to begin ze procedure..."
Whirrr-bzzzzz!!!

Mr Torture brings pain

Started work on the interrogator.Thought I'd share the process with you guys!

This is after three spray coats - chaos black, then army painter leather brown and finally a thin dusting of army painter uniform grey.

That gave me an interresting canvas to work on.

After the spray coats I flicked some black, brown and red paint on him to get an interresting texture and then got to work with a mix of washes and drybrushing. Only the skin had a proper basecoat (celestra grey with some red in it).

I'm relying more and more on drybrushing and washes lately - very, very different from how I painted only a few years ago: working up to highlights from a dark base color. Here's where he's at at the moment:

We'll see how this brute turns out. Kinda like the little bastard already though...

The Beast from 40.000 fathoms

Well here he is in glorious technicolor. I give you - Glarrg the Brontoglorrg.

Realised I'd forgotten to do final finishes on the purity seals red wax but apart from that I consider this monster done. I also might go back and paint the cowling on his gun-arm the same style as the armour to make it pop a bit more. We'll see...

It came from outer space

After spending the weekend out in Stockholms archipelago celebrating midsummer's eve, that great swedish holiday when we eat raw herring in vinegar (which we do basically every holiday), get drunk on snaps (that too) and merrily dance around a giant phallos, it was time to bring out the paints and start bringing some glorious technicolour to Glarrg.
To enhance his (B)movie-monster qualities I based the skintone and pattern on the Predator. I really wanted him to look like something that could be played by an actor wearing a rubber suit. It came out good but unfortunately a bit too green.
Not quite done yet, but getting there..,

When you're on a roll...

After the glorrg got finished I was in the modeling zone...
Frantically grasping after something else to put the knife to I picked up an abandoned model which was basically just a cut down ork torso glued to some dark angel robed legs. After two hours this is what he looked like:

He's a... I don't know really. Interrogator, arco-flaggelant, executioner... You're guess is as good as mine.

Walking with Brontoglorrgs

This might be wierdest creature to ever roll off this particular converters assembly line...

I'll probably write up a brief background for these foul xenos at a later stage, but until then I give you:
Glarrg the Brontoglorrg - bountyhunter.

Cyan dwarf

Repainted the coat.
I prefer him like this - it's closer to what I initially envisioned and looks more hi-tech which (for once) was what I was going for.

Did some weathering on the hammers hilt as well to make it less garish.

Brown dwarf

Here's where the squat engineer is at the moment. I'm not completely sold on the brown coat however, so that might get a repaint in a medium dark cyan grey.

Haven't thought of a name yet... Know of any short stunty composers apart from Randy Newman?

Beware the brontoglorrg!

Working on some foul xenos for a new warband.
First up is this saurian bountyhunter. I felt he looked like a glorrg or something like that. JB suggested "brontoglorrg" so that name kinda stuck.

Short, round

Finished the first squat engineer!

I wasn't too keen on the clipboard arm so I replaced it with a power gauntlet. He also received a servo arm to accentuate his engineer-iness.

Squats!!!

Squat engineer.

'Nuff said.

Oldies goldies

There's been some requests over on the Ammobunker to see pics of some of my earlier models.
I'm happy to oblige so here's a servitor and two count-as-deamonhosts familars. I don't like the idea of deamons in any form in a Grey Knight army...

Psyber Vampiress

Psyber Vampiress Comtessa Serpina Beltrami joins the growing band of misfits.

I took a lot of cues from the vampire character Damaskinos in "Blade II" who has a lovely wax-like semi transparent skin. Furthermore, apart from the obvious inspiration from "Nosferatu", the Remans from "Star Trek Nemesis" who has always been favourites of mine for some strange reason.

=I= Comtessa Serpina Beltrami =I=

Wraithguards and Vampires!

Finished the wraithguard test model this morning!
It turned out pretty much as I hoped to. Actually probably a bit better than the standard I could hope to keep up for a whole unit - let alone a whole army. Oh well...

Paintscheme is sort of Ulthwé in reverse, but with a earthy light grey instead of bone. Eldar can get a bit too slick so I added a lot och of wear and tear.

Haven´t decided on a name for the craftworld yet. My first idea was Mohr-Righán inspired by the Morrigan from irish mythology: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Morr%C3%ADgan
However, now I´m leaning more towards Anya-Rah. Goldstar to those who get the literary reference...

Only thing left is some sort of decoration on the loincloth.

Also made some progress with the Psyber Vampiress - here's where she is at the moment:

The Real Ghostbusters

Couldn't help myself - I just had to pick up a box of the new wraithguard...

I've always loved the ghost warrior parts of the eldar army and after the new codex came out a plan to do a ghost warrior army with dark eldar allies has been brewing. The theme being a craftworld (working title Mohr-Righán) with an almost completely decimated population after a devastating Slaaneshi attack who in desperation turn to the their dark kin. And them good 'ol harlequins of course.
No conversions on these guys - just a straight out of the box build. Eldar are hard to convert and the minis are beautiful as they are...

Star Vampiress building phase complete.

Now it's off to the spray-tan saloon for you missy!

...another one

Realised it was a while ago I made something creepy so I threw together this star vampire watching the last episode of Game if Thrones.

She looks extremely top heavy from the front but that is, at least partially, a trick of perspective.
