Last night I painted up the aspiring champion for the chaos warrior unit. As the deadline for the project is drawing closer I didn't want to spend to much time on him, so this was a fairly quick paintjob of about 3-4 hours.
Pretty pleased with the result all in all (though he's perhaps not the most inspired model in the warband).
He does work rather well next to his underlings though.
Also, on popular demand, here's a better picture of the standardbearer and his moldered plaguebanner:
Next up - plague sorceror!
If that's a quick paintjob - it certainly doesn't show in the final product.
ReplyDeleteI like the simplicity of the piece as a whole, and the motif of circular trios vaguely recall Celtic designs to my mind.
Bravo once again!
Cheers mate!
DeleteIt does look waguely celtic doesn´t it? I actually just put some rings there to liven up those flat circles a little.
Oh my.... that banner is ACE ! Maybe your champion is "not the most inspired model in the warband" but the paintjob is really cool. I love the white circles on the chest wich add a nordic / viking style to the mini. Once again awesome job my friend. The nurgle style will never be the same after your own vision.
ReplyDeleteGlad you dig buddy! Are my bitz on the way yet? ;-)
DeleteThey'll be on the post monday or tuesday... I think yoou'll be happy with the bag !
DeleteYay!! Thanks buddy!
DeleteDamn, your Nurgle models look great. The newer pictures of the standard bearer really shows how cool the flag really looks.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite fantasy kit is also the Blightking box. But I feel that all of your models are blightkings. The only thing that makes your new warrior champ any different from them, is a smaller base. Same with your lord and his bigger base.
Don't get me wrong, your Nurgle models are my favourite on the internet! But I think you could convert some cool looking models that look less like blightkings as your warriors and other units.
Thanks Wilhelm.
DeleteI hear you. This mini was made as a blightking initially, but somehow looked a lot less imposing than the other ones. Putting him on a smaller base made him a perfect chaos warrior champ in my eyes. Also, for me at least, blightkings are just big chaos warriors of Nurgle - I don´t really draw a line between the two.
The idea with this warband is to build a small army pretty quickly so I sort of just build and paint stuff and then shoehorn them into the warband where they fit best ;-)
I might add a back banner to the champion Gloop to make him pop a little, though - you´re absolutely right in that he needs something to mark him out as the head honcho.
DeleteI see your point! I usually do the same. Just put the miniatures inn where they fit best in the army. I think a banner on the Lord would look really nice. Especially with a nice fly head motif.
DeleteWhat colours did you use on the chaos knights armour and the standard bearers skin?
ReplyDeleteLooks great though.
Cheers!
DeleteThe mini is spraycoated black, brown and then bone. After that it's basically a sepia wash and some bone highlights.
I honestly don't remeber how I dud the skin. It was a rather back and forth process like most of my painting. There's seldom a "recipie"...
Thanks for the knight, as the other lol, that's how one often works, which when it comes to units is a nightmare. Thanks anyway. Looks amazing
DeleteWow... and that's a quick paintjob? Fantastic work mate, and that banner is stunning. Thanks for showing it!
ReplyDeleteYour quick jobs look like other folks 3-4 day work. I love how you manage the tones on his armor plates. Wonderful stuff.
ReplyDeleteDamn good looking models.
ReplyDeleteThat standardbearer is pure filth! Super super cool character!
ReplyDeleteThanks guys!
ReplyDeleteNot every mini has to be outstanding JE. "Just fine" is as valuable in a warband as well.
ReplyDeleteThis one looks like nice'n'solid rank and file and nicely so. Simple is "Just fine" to me. :)
I was diagnosed as HEPATITIS B carrier in 2013 with fibrosis of the
ReplyDeleteliver already present. I started on antiviral medications which
reduced the viral load initially. After a couple of years the virus
became resistant. I started on HEPATITIS B Herbal treatment from
ULTIMATE LIFE CLINIC (www.ultimatelifeclinic.com) in March, 2020. Their
treatment totally reversed the virus. I did another blood test after
the 6 months long treatment and tested negative to the virus. Amazing
treatment! This treatment is a breakthrough for all HBV carriers.
