RUST AND BONES

Does your eyes deceive you? No, they do not - for I am back with yet another of these, increasingly sporadic, blog posts! I sure long for the times I could update the blog on the fly using a phone app...

On to the models. Hobbying has been as sporadic as the updating, but I have actually managed to crank out some stuff the last few months. To begin with two finished character for my incipient Mordheim MMXIX undead warband. A humble zombie and a slightly less humble necromancer, based on the nifty new gene-cult Locus.

I've decided to use the wraiths from my fledgling Nighthaunt-army as count-as dire wolves, as the models are simply too cool not to use.

Furthermore, I've been playing a lot of Kill-Team lately and have been having some fun with the new Mechanicus Sector terrain. I'm pretty pleased with the refinery I bashed together, even though the ruin and larger building admittedly is bit more pedestrian. They work really well in-game though - here seen housing a mob of Ork Kommandos. (Sorry for the varying quality of the images here - photographing terrain is different from snapping pictures of models)

Last but not least, my pals at Warhammer Community sent me a little gift:

I'm simply in awe of the new Abaddon. I love that it sticks so close to the original model, only turning it up to ten - but not, as I feared, eleven. There's a restraint to it. Big, but not gigantic, detailed, but not cluttered, dynamic, but not standing-on-one-foot-jumping etc.
It's the perfect update on a classic, and among the top ten GW miniatures ever. Vastly superior to the action figure-like Guilliman; this is a proper MODEL - not a toy.

Not sure what I'll do when it comes to painting and modelling. I might paint the old bastard more or less straight out of the box, or convert him into some kind of warpsmith-style dark mechanicvm character. We'll see.

That's it for now. I'll be back in a month or two. In the meantime be sure to check out 28 Mag - the new online magazine about all things grimdark: 28-mag.com

  1. I love the Necromancer and the zombie, especially the idea to combine the night haunt with the zombie torso!

  2. I follow your blog for nearly a year and it's nice to see you still update it.

Your Mordheim Warband looks really awesome! The Locus conversion is perfect! The Nighthaunt / Zombie combination and the lovely style of your painting gives them a grim dark and unique appearance!

Your Killteam board is so cool that I build my own with a cork-board. Thanks for the inspiration. If your interested to see it, you can take a look at my blog ;-) I would really appreciate this!

    Best regards!

  4. Very nice all round. The terrain is lovely, certainly captures the grime of the 41st millennia.

    1. Cheers Eric!

Yeah, they do feel a bit more spooky and undeady than slightly mouldy canines, don't they?

  6. Seeing another update pop up over here, no matter how seldom it happens these days, is always a special delight! :)

That Necromancer is absolutely wonderful, and I'd say he's one of those pieces that are instantly recognisable as one of yours. Brilliant stuff! The Zombie/skellie in a hoody is also great fun. And the terrain is wonderfully grimy -- I would really appreciate more pictures of your various Killteam outings!

Totally with you on the new Abaddon: Where the modern Archaon is just too much of a theme park ride end boss, the Warmaster is just restrained enough to be an instant classic. I was never a huge fan of the character - not even after ADB's wonderful Black Legion books - but I can easily see myself picking up the model, because it's just that good.

And while I agree with you about Abby being far superior to Guilliman, I also think it's interesting how much those two seem to have been designed to seem like dark mirror images of one another, down to the base designs. Just something that stuck out to me.

Anyway, always a pleasure, Johan! And don't be a stranger now!

    Cheers,

    Krauty

    1. Thanks Krauty!

Did you ever do a recap of the models of 2018? Or is the output to these days too big to do a proper review?

Abaddon and Guilliman are obviously designed to mirror each other, but that just underscores how awkward and weirdly proportioned Roboute is. I really, really dislike that model - it's almost the new "old Nagash" for me.

    2. Hey Johan,

no, I didn't do a 2018 recap of the releases -- the fact that there's just so much stuff coming out was one reason, the other one was that it takes hours and hours to do that kind of writeup -- frankly, that's time I would much rather spend doing actual hobby stuff, even though that kind of content certainly gets less attention, ironically enough ;) That being said, Wudugast and the Wier Brothers basically have that angle covered, as I tend to mostly agree with their respective reviews (except where weapon size is concerned).

  8. It's always a pleasure to see an update on your blog! I should say that this Necromancer totally looks like your style miniature, maybe because of this colour palette.

  10. My ex-husband and I had always managed to stay friendly after our divorce in February 2017. But I always wanted to get back together with him, All it took was a visit to this spell casters website last December, because my dream was to start a new year with my husband, and live happily with him.. This spell caster requested a specific love spell for me and my husband, and I accepted it. And this powerful spell caster began to work his magic. And 48 hours after this spell caster worked for me, my husband called me back for us to be together again, and he was remorseful for all his wrong deeds. My spell is working because guess what: My “husband” is back and we are making preparations on how to go to court and withdraw our divorce papers ASAP. This is nothing short of a miracle. Thank you Dr Emu for your powerful spells. Words are not enough. here is his Email: emutemple@gmail.com or call/text him on his WhatsApp +2347012841542

He is also able to cast spell like 1: Lottery 2: Conceive 3: Breakup 4: Divorce 5: Cure for all kinds of diseases and viruses.

  12. I was diagnosed as HEPATITIS B carrier in 2013 with fibrosis of the
liver already present. I started on antiviral medications which
reduced the viral load initially. After a couple of years the virus
became resistant. I started on HEPATITIS B Herbal treatment from
ULTIMATE LIFE CLINIC (www.ultimatelifeclinic.com) in March, 2020. Their
treatment totally reversed the virus. I did another blood test after
the 6 months long treatment and tested negative to the virus. Amazing
treatment! This treatment is a breakthrough for all HBV carriers.
