Bellator Sanctorum Sicarii

Here's my first take on a Sicarian. I wanted a crusader type character for the retuine - albeit one with a distinct mechanicvm look and feel - and this was the result.

I'm thinking about adding a banner of some sort. Other than that he's pretty much ready for paint.

The sicarians are a fantastic kit with tons of cool bits.
They are extremely spindly though and the very fine brittle legs are a pain to remove from the sprues without them snapping. They're also slightly tricky to assemble with the legs separate from the body and flat joins without connecting pins. Well worth it though.

-EDIT-

Added a tabard and purity seals:

  1. Just curious, why is there a sort of blue-ish tinge to the unpainted model? Did you do something to the plastic to prep it or is there just a blue light source in the room or something?

    1. Thats probably your monitor. Just your normal grey GW plastic here...

    2. Oh! Now I see it!

Yeah - that´s just a shadow. As you were.

  2. Very cool. Really looking forward to getting my hands on this kit myself.

  3. Awesome conversion! I'm really enjoying the Ruststalker kit myself as well. Maybe you could add a flowing loincloth/tabard to the model instead of a banner. I think it might add to the crusader theme and would fill the space between his legs. Just a suggestion. :) Looking forward to seeing him painted!

    1. Yes - I thought about a loincloth myself as an alternative. Might be the way to go then!

  4. Clearly that settles it.

I'm getting some Sicarans today :D

Yep - it's one helluva kit! All the designers get a cookie!!

  8. I second the loin cloth but very sharp Jeff! I wondered how fiddly the legs would be, are they similar in height to say Scion legs? They seem much longer but I havent seen a side by side comparison between models yet

    1. They're on 40mm bases so they're considerably larger than humans ( not very bulky though).

  9. Nice looking conversion! The addition of the shield and the little iron halo on his head really do wonders in imparting a 'crusader' feel to him. I am also glad you trimmed off a lot of the extra stuff jutting out of his backpack (looks much better).

With a little luck, I will have some of the models tomorrow to use for conversions!

Keep up the great work with the new kits; you are on a roll!

    1. Cheers Adam!

It´s actually a completely new backpack made from the business end of a marine bazooka.

Looking forward to see what you make from the kit!

  10. Exciting model. The halo and the lance really improve the figure.

I third the idea of having a loin cloth or a tabard (maybe one like the marines use that is split like a robe over the chest?) Would allow for some more color, balances out those legs, and lets you go crazy with heraldry (if you want)

I think that the shield either needs some sort of force field generator gubbins, or it needs to be bigger (like the bretonnian foot soldier ones). AS it is now, you have the techno lance, but the shield is a bit plain by comparison.

    1. You are aware I'm no stranger to freehand work? ;-)

Seriously though - the shield will certainly get a purity seal or two. I actually tried with a bretonnian peasant shield but it was a bit big.

    2. Pretty sure your freehand work was the first thing I complemented way back when I started following... ;)

But sometimes less is more, and maybe you just want to go dull red or something.

  11. Good idea with the banner. I have a spare Banner from scaven clanrats, i will use it for my Ruststalker Princeps, or Infiltrator Princeps. I will attach it to the back "samurai-like".

  12. And here was me trying to avoid getting sucked into the new Mechanicus kits.

If you're going for a banner you might want to go for a back flag of some sort, echoing the heraldic device on the shield. Though I am sure you have already thought of this and I am just looking for an excuse to comment.

    1. Cheers.

I think the tabard and shield will be enough so no backbanner on this one.

  14. Incidentally, what kit did the shield come from?
I'm assuming that the lance is a conversion - but wais it very hard to get the hand from the kit right, or did you have to convert/make a few extra fingers?

PS: I was really only thinking of buying the kit for a few swords for my wytches - soon to be death cult assassins), but do you think that using the bodies like you did would be possible for a pretty average converter like me?
I'm nowhere near as good a you are: great work!

  15. I was diagnosed as HEPATITIS B carrier in 2013 with fibrosis of the
liver already present. I started on antiviral medications which
reduced the viral load initially. After a couple of years the virus
became resistant. I started on HEPATITIS B Herbal treatment from
ULTIMATE LIFE CLINIC (www.ultimatelifeclinic.com) in March, 2020. Their
treatment totally reversed the virus. I did another blood test after
the 6 months long treatment and tested negative to the virus. Amazing
treatment! This treatment is a breakthrough for all HBV carriers.
