I want your skulls, I need your skulls

This monday we announced that the talented mr. Kraut Scientist (an esteemed hobbyist who probably needs no further introduction) will be taking care of the khornate side of the Path to Glory equation. Now it´s time to have a look at what he´s produced so far.
Over to you Krauty:

First of all, I have to say that it's a colossal honour to be invited to this small event, and knowing the other guys' spectacular work, I know that I'll have to give it my best shot. That said, I played hard to get for a while, so I am lagging behind a bit, and I yet have to hammer out a masterplan for my warband. It's also been years since I built my last model for WFB, which adds to the challenge.

But I have some preliminary kitbashes to share with you, at least. Most of these are still rather WIP and may be subject to change.

Champion of Khorne

This guy was actually bought quite a while ago, since I wanted to use his arms and heads for a different project. The original plan was to turn him into an officer for my World Eaters army, but that plan never really moved beyond the blue tack phase, so this project seemed like the perfect occasion to revisit the model. While I am a big fan of the classic Khornate "bunny ears", I think the simpler helmet design really adds a sense of blunt menace and brutality. At the moment, I am still thinking about whether or not I should replace the sword with a Bloodletter Helblade...

Bloodsecrator

My main plan for this model was to make it slightly less over the top, so I replaced the comically huge icon of Khorne with a still massive but slightly more plausible standard. I also changed the right arm, while I was at it, going for an even more aggressive pose. The beastly head seemed like a cool addition, adding a certain old skoll charm to the character ;)

Khorgorath

This model was converted shortly after the release of Age of Sigmar: While I am normally not a big fan of massively mutated models, I still rather like the Khorgorath. However, I made some changes to make the model seems slightly less cluttered: The strange "spine-serpents" emerging from the model's shoulder and right arm were shaved off and replaced with something a little less busy in order to unclutter the model's silhouette. I also changed the somewhat abstract head, splicing in an ogre helmet for a somewhat gladiatorial look (the model was originally converted as some kind of arena beast for my World Eaters, and I think it may still end up doing double-duty in both armies/warbands).

Chaos Warrior

This ist the most WIP conversion at the moment, but I really rather like the look and feel of the model. I think I'd like to create a band of somewhat more individual chaos warriors, where each model reads as a character in their own right, and this guy is the first step in that direction.

So much for my first kitbashes. I'd love to hear any feedback you might have, of course! :-)

  1. YAY! So excited! I think you should give the champion a hellblade for that extra khorne look. Maybe shorten the hellblade a bit so its about the same size as the knight sword he currently has cuz those suckers are huuuge!

    Also, misfits reference <3

    1. Cheers, mate! Thanks for having me! ;)

I am really tempted about the Helblade -- especially since one of the ones in my bitzbox is slightly shorter than usual, making for a slightly more balanced look. Then again, Manu pointed out the resemblance to a piece of GW artwork below, and I am really rather taken with the resemblance. We'll see...

  2. Excellent start my friend!

Good choice of head for the lord, as you said it gives a certain brutalness to him. The sword looks a bit big. If the other hand was empty it might work better, a possibly double handed weapon.

While I'm not a fan of the khorne spawn your remake of the hed makes it work so much better, I'm glad you also shaved off those odd tentacles.

The chaos warrior looks great, a very relaxed pose while still a killer.

What are you planning to add next?

    1. Thanks Alexander! When I was still flip-flopping around about whether or not to join this event, it was the fantastic work by you guys that really made the decision for me. If anything, it feels like I will really have to step up my game a bit yet in order to match the amount of quality you guys have going on with your warbands so far!

Regarding the head on the chamoion, I tried quite a lot of heads that were more ornate than this one, but it ultimately just clicked. It's probably my favourite head from the warriors of chaos kit, though, so there's that too. Such a shame that only one is included in every box...

As for the next models, there are several things I would like to try: some fairly individualistic chaos warriors, with each of the models a custom conversion, would be great. I'd like to do a Dragon Ogre as well. One thing I want to try is to buy as little new stuff as possible and build this warband mostly from the contents of my bitzbox. Let's see how that works out...;)

  3. Excellent work ! Glad to finally see some red (even it's mostly grey at this time) on this blog. Your champion reminds me Engra Deathsword, butcher of Praag... Awesome ! Both Bloodsecrator and Khorgorath are better like this. And I can't say that I don't like your warrior, I've made the same with mines.... ;) . Can't wait to see more !

    1. Mate, you've totally blown my mind with your remark about Engra Deathsword, because you're absolutely correct! And it wasn't even intentional at all! That said, the sixth edition army book, where that piece of art debuted, was the last WFB army book I bought, and I love the illustration to bitz, so it is very likely that this was a subconsious thing -- in fact, this seriously makes me reconsider changing the sword, as I rather like the shout out to the art!

  4. Beautiful, Kraut!I love that Bloodsecrator, the combination of bits works very well (on another note, what kit is that head from? I've seen it a lot on conversions, but I've never actually been able to source it.)
That Warrior, tho... damn, dude. Just damn.

    1. The head is from the chaos chariot. There´s some good bits in there!

    2. Cheers, mate! Glad you like the model! Johan is quite right, the head is from the chariot kit, which is 50% really awkward and 50% awesome of you ask me. The beastly head belongs to the awesome parts. I've wanted to use it for quite a while, but it never seemd appropriate for my World Eaters, so it's great to have found a use for it at long last!

  5. Fantastic work – excited to see the four groups expanding; and it's great to see such a talented chap as Krauty on-board to go with the sublime work done on the other gods so far. :)

  6. You'll need a 5th and 6th member for this project putting together a Malak and Chaos Undivided warband(s)!

As usual, Kraut's creations are very cool. Except for the standard bearer... I think he's way over the top. But that's just me.

The final warrior though is perfect. Subtle and deadly looking.

    1. Cheers, Dai! I see what you mean about the Bloosecrator. However, instead of fighting the model's inherent silliness, I decided to run with it. It remains to be seen whether it'll work out, of course...

    2. A Malal warband would be truly interesting... Care to join our little enterprise?

I was tempted to do a Mhorrigotii warband, but he fits in better in the 40k universe methinks.

  7. I love the warrior! He's understated, and he feels almost quiet and contemplative.

  8. Love what you have done with the Khorgorath. I am not fussed about the tentacles, but find the head too abstract - I couldn't quite work out what was supposed to be happening with it, and your use of an Ogre head is inspired.

  9. Just stumbled on the Bloodsecrator conversion when doing a Google Images search. I think the model as is looks ridiculous, but I love what you've done with it. I have the head and banner bit. Do you have any idea what right arm you used?

  10. I was diagnosed as HEPATITIS B carrier in 2013 with fibrosis of the
liver already present. I started on antiviral medications which
reduced the viral load initially. After a couple of years the virus
became resistant. I started on HEPATITIS B Herbal treatment from
ULTIMATE LIFE CLINIC (www.ultimatelifeclinic.com) in March, 2020. Their
treatment totally reversed the virus. I did another blood test after
the 6 months long treatment and tested negative to the virus. Amazing
treatment! This treatment is a breakthrough for all HBV carriers.
