Went for a slightly sleeker, less gritty, look for this one compared to the other Metatron marines as befits the technologically advanded black opsy Deathwatch.
The Metatron and the Ordo Xenos have extremely close ties, and almost all veterans in the chapter has served in the Deathwatch. Many of them are granted the right to wear the black livery even when they return to their home chapter.
That is absolutely exquisite!

DeleteIt's not brass actually, apart from the small reliquary, but the rest of the metal is grimy steel.
Absolutely gorgeous. Those grimy metallics are some of the best I've ever seen. Also those Primaris models are really incredible, it is somewhat hilarious how comprehensively they've replaced the standard Marines in my mind, they just look so good. Especially next to non-Marine models. The scale's just perfect.

DeleteI quite agree - they´re exactly the right size for "truescale" astartes. Now that we got them it painfully apparent how weirdly proportioned the standard marines were, with their long arms and cartoony big heads. The only thing that bugs me with the design is the unnecessary "pectoral-plate" on the torso. I like the simpler chestplate on the classic armour.

DeleteIt's all standard bitz really, apart from the backpack which is from the Iron Hand marine in the Deathwatch Overkill box. The head is from the reivers. All on all there's very few actual comversions - it's more or less a straight up kitbash.

DeleteThe deathwatch bits and the primaris go extremely well togther. The DW arms are bigger than normal marine arms so they're perfect for the new scale.

DeleteYes they really do! Perfect for us who want larger scaled Astartes for our builds. I too used the Deatchwatch parts for my conversions over at my own blog.

ReplyDeleteIt's pigments. More specifically vallejo burnt sienna.
DeleteThere's lots of different colours and forgeworld's also got a line of similar powders.
Where is the backpack from? It is a bit like the one from High Marshal Helbrecht but it's not the same. I don't know any other backpacks that have this design.
