I am The Law

Finally got round to buying the skitarii troopers. It is, as you all probably have realised by now, an amazing kit with lots of conversion potential.

The first model to come out of it is - perhaps surprisingly - not a mechanicvm character, but rather one of the most iconic imperial servants in the 40k universe. The Arbitrator - upholder of the Pax Imperialis.

As someone who grew up reading Judge Dredd I've always wanted to take a swing at kit bashing one of these, and finally the skitarii provided an appropiate helmet.

I'd also like to say thanks to Kraut Scientist, who provided valuable inspiration with his recent take on the subject. Cheers buddy!

  1. Skitarii Helmet, Scion torso and arms, Skitarii mace, Space Marine combat shield, and space marine scout legs?

Looks great! If you really wanted that Dredd look, you could replace one of the shoulder pads with the marine eagle pad, but really, this figure already looks excellent, and should be great for painting heraldry. (and it would be interesting to see your take on police/SWAT iconography 38k years in the future)

    1. Cheers mate!

The legs are from the heavy weapon cultist as Eli correctly spotted.

Space marine shoulderpads are a bit to huge for a rank and file Arbitrator in my eyes. I´ll save that for a Marshall...

  2. I believe those are cultist legs perhaps? Looks great though, I cant get my head around the mace arm, not just this one but Krauts as well they always seem like they are at some crazy angle due to the elbow pad.

    1. You are absolutely right, sir. I should have cut the arm above the elbow and turned it outward. Well spotted! Too late now I´m afraid - already primed him...

  3. Jeff, that is bad ass. Do you plan to build more arbites?

Who knows... I´m starting with this one and then we´ll see...

  4. Fair play, that's hands down the nicest Arbites conversion I've ever seen. I think I'd prefer some armoured legs, but the slightly tech-ier look of the skitarii helm is amazing. Hell, it's edging out the actual models in terms of awesomeness.

And I just remembered that the scions have a big overcoat bit as well. It's like they planned it...

    1. Glad you like it sir!

The idea was to keep the sculpting to a minimum so I skipped the kneepads.

    2. Yeah, can't blame you for that. I'm wondering if there are some other, more heavily armoured legs out there - the scion legs would be a start, but then the overall look might be a tad too much scion...

Just saw the painted version though, and it's absolutely stunning. Hats off to you man!

  5. He he he... sounds like we're all planning the same projects recently.... I'm also kitbashing a "Judge" Arbritrator my self with the old Jes Goodwin sketchs... As you said, thanks to Krauty for the base idea. Great jod mate !

  7. Haha, bitten by the Arbites bug, eh? Glad to have inspired you! :)

The model is excellent -- it's especially cool to see how you've managed to make the scion torso work. Something I didn't manage on my own first attempt, which ultimately made me switch back to a Cadian torso.

Anyway, fantastic work, as usual! :)

    1. Thanks man!

I think your initial problems has to do with the scions legs - they are rather stunted and makes the mini look goofy somehow.I like the scions but the more you work with them the more you realise they´re very strangely proportioned minis... The legs are to short and the arm are way to long which results in a stocky ape-like physique. I shortened the arms quite a bit on my judge and it looks a lot better.

I think the optimal combination for a quick arbites conversion would be scion torso and scout legs.

    2. You are absolutely right about the Scions -- their proportions really kina fall apart upon closer inspection, don't they? It doesn't make the models any less awesome or versatile, although it means they can require a bit of work.

In the end, I am pretty happy with the combination of a Cadian torso and scout legs -- the Scion breastplate just ended up looking a tad too ornamental on my own Arbitrator, and I wanted a slightly more "tech-y" look, if that makes any sense.

That said, it works great here, and the recipe would also work very well for Inquisitorial Crusader archetypes, come to think of it.

  8. Really liking the look and it's an amazing use of multiple new sets. I was wondering what part(s) you used for the head of the Skeletor assassin

The skellie head is from the cairn wraith.

  9. I was diagnosed as HEPATITIS B carrier in 2013 with fibrosis of the
liver already present. I started on antiviral medications which
reduced the viral load initially. After a couple of years the virus
became resistant. I started on HEPATITIS B Herbal treatment from
ULTIMATE LIFE CLINIC (www.ultimatelifeclinic.com) in March, 2020. Their
treatment totally reversed the virus. I did another blood test after
the 6 months long treatment and tested negative to the virus. Amazing
treatment! This treatment is a breakthrough for all HBV carriers.
