Grimslice Fangspittle

I threw together a rather quick plaguebearer conversion for a little experiment.

Me and a bunch of other painters are going to try painting a mini each in under three hours. Constraints are always good for creativity and it will be really interesting to see what happens when the clock is ticking... I decided early on to paint a plaguebearer - they have lots of skin where I can really go to town with drybrushing and washes and not that many other details to slow things down.

On a sidenote, he was named using this rather nifty deamonic name generator:

  1. Things like that are always fun. In my club we used to have speed painting contests where we had to paint a mini in one hour. We had half an hour for prep (assembly and basing) before starting.

    1. That would be even more of a challenge...

  2. Model looks good and your little project seems fun. It will surely develop your skills, if you spend time in proving yourself with set targets.

  3. Very characterful mini! SImple conversion but effective. Looking forward to see what you come up with. :)

I've also voted for you in The Liebster Award should you wish to participate, Jeff. :D

    1. Cheers mate!

The Liebster Award seems to be some kind of pyramid/chain letter thing so I´m not participating in that (but thanks for nomination).

    2. I disagree on the pyramid/chain letter conclusion. It's actually a very effective way for bloggers to become aware of other bloggers work, to get to know each other a little better and to promote it. But if you don't wish to participate that's well enough.

  4. Great conversion! Prime him white and just paint him with successively darker glazes of greens browns purples reds and greys. I did a night goblin to a tabletop standard in about 45min with SW washes over a white primer coat ;)

    1. I´ll probably give him a few spray coats to form a more interesting foundation - black, brown and bone methinks. The I go to town with the washes...
