Two down...

Here's the converted Solitaire in all his desaturated glory. As with the slaanmarine I'll wait until the end of the Invitational to show him in full colour.

I've deliberately kept him clean and avoided any diamond patterns or large free hand designs. A solitaire rune on his chest and a small diamond on his left spaulder will have to suffice for now. I might go back and paint a slaaneshii rune on the back of his coat later on though.

  1. Desaturated or not, he looks a lot more coherent now you've painted him.
I have to admit I was one of the doubters when it came to the choice of legs but im happy to admit I was wrong...

  2. Great work! The slight re-positioning of his legs and the addition of the pouches and gem on the right side of his waist make a big difference. The little cuff/bracelet on his left arm looks really nice too.

Are you planning on making any more Harlequin conversions? Here's hoping you do!

I look forward to seeing the full color pictures!

The arm was a bit short so I added a bit of plastic at the wrist which turned into that nifty bracelet. The pouches really helps to beef up the waist - seems like a small addition but they do make a lot of difference.

I´ve got a few already built so there´ll certainly be more harlies. I´m probably going to do a little feature on some small modifications I´ve done to make the models better fit my idea of how a harlequin should look.

    2. That sounds great! A more in depth look at the modifications and your though process would be informative.

When the Invitational is finished I think I might try and modify a few Harliquins too. I have plans to modify their weapons a bunch. I think your thought about the double lip on their masks is on point too. That will likely be another modification I will incorporate.

      Thanks for the inspiration!

  3. Nice one! When I saw the unpainted WIP picture something seemed off. But now I see you managed to fix that with some extra bits and the paintjob (even though it's a desaturated photo it looks ace).

    1. Thanks Ana!

Yeah - there were lots of little details that were slightly off: the waist, the angle of the left arm etc.

Actually I really like the desaturated look - it would be really cool to try to paint a mini this monochrome....

  4. It's amazing how widening the waist with the pouches and accessories helped offset some of those off-proportions. I quite like this. Nice work.

    2. Just me being impatient. I'm fully aware of your plan for the sleeters getting the revealing ;)

  6. The addition of the bracelet and the bulking up of the waist with pouches really helps the model!

The rune painted on the model's left breast looks superb!

The original bolt pistol/power sword wielding model you showed in your earlier Invitational posts, what has become of him? Hopefully he will make an appearance in the future?

The cultist felt a bit rough around the edges and strangely proportioned so I put that on the bench for a while. I'll get back to it eventually!
