Hells bells

The new standard bearer has acquired a little bell-ringing friend.

Jingle away shorty!

Happy new year everyone!

Nurgly standards

Had a rummage around my, these days waaaay to big, bitzbox. I've reached the point where I actually have so many bits it's become counter-creative. Partly because it's hard to find the piece you're looking for but mainly because knowing you could potentially build anything somehow makes building just something less fun.

Anyway. I did manage to tack together this nurgly standard bearer out of an old half-finished conversion and some new blightking bits.

He needs some greenstuff work - filling and belly-boils and suchlike but apart from that he looks pretty complete.

The december issue

This is admittedly old news by now, but I finally managed to pick up the latest Warhammer Visions.
Besides the rather lacklustre and just appallingly uninteresting 50 or so pages devoted to new-ish tyranid models the december issue does have some really nice features. A great, though rather short, showcase of blightkings, lots of GD entries and a bunch of cool army features.

There's also the first installment in what promises to be a series of Blanchitsu articles about John's "sump" board and the quite spectacular inquisimunda game we played on it this summer. This months feature is about the amazing board itself plus John, Pete and Neils characterful NPCs and unless you use a magnifying glass its hard to make out any of my minis. However, further articles will focus on the various gangs and the game itself - so stay tuned.

Fly paper

I havent done anything miniature related lately - between concussion, work, writing a book, work and then, of course, the flu - there´s simply been no time.

In the warm, soggy embrace of Father Nurgle I did however manage to crank out some of these funky heraldic pox fly designs.

Like my facebook page please... I SAID LIKE IT!!!!

As you might know my day job is as an illustrator (and reluctant writer).

I just set up a new public facebook page to display new and old art, promote events like signings and such.
If you like my minis you might very well like my art, so head on over and start clicking thumb shaped buttons!

'Eavy IV

Finished! This guy took his time but he turned out okay methinks.

I'm really pleased with the base - been experimenting with cork to build up the terrain instead of the usual plasticard. It works really well - the features becomes more random and grainy which feels more naturalistic.

'Eavy III

Work in progress shot of fat bastard. Playing around with washes which is always an interesting process - you never really know what the end result will be...

Papas boy

Here's the latest of Papa Nurgles minions in color. Turned out browner than planned, I was aiming for a dirty off-white, but I'm still quite happy with the armour.

Here he is next to the gunslinger for a sense of scale (he's mounted on a round 30mm base).

It's nice to be back painting after the concussion - even if I had to paint it slowly with a lot of breaks.

'Eavy II

More or less done with this guy!

Shortened the barrel quite a bit - perhaps too much. But it did result in a weapon with a pretty interesting profile.

Filled up the giant boils on his belly as well - I'm going for a slightly more subtle nurgly look with this guy.

'Eavy

There's something about Nurgle...
The imagery can feel a bit overdone at times, but working on the models completely blows away all such thoughts - it's just so much fun!

Here's a heavy I'm tinkering with. Might change the gun to a heavy bolter as the size feels slightly over the top - even by 40k standards. The question now is wether to keep him nurgly or to turn him into a big servitor/mutie/random fat bloke.

Death Guard

The nurglii marine is more or less finished.

I'm really happy with the way he turned out - a very classic plaguemarine reminiscent of Jes's and Dave Andrews early 90's models. The old school bolter certainly helps to reinforce that image.

Putrid Blightmarine

Here's the first conversion to come out of the new blightkings.
Started off with a death guard as the possibilty for truescaled plague marines became apparent the moment I saw the first pictures of the kit. Still extremely work in progress - the boltpistol is very much a placeholder and will be replaced by something chunkier.

Braindead

I've been out of it for a while due to a concussion that scrambled my brains a bit. Hard to paint minis when you can't focus properly...

However, that didn't stop me picking up a box of the fantastic new blightkings. Along with the wracks, the freebooterz and the scions GW has really put out some truly stellar infantry kits this year. I'm going to have a blast putting together these bad boys!

Newmonculus

The wrack kit is just amazing. Here's the second haemonculus I've put together using the multitude of bitz it offers. I've also cobbled together a nomal wrack (well, normal for wracks...) just to test the kit - I'll put that up when it's finished.

For now here's haemonculii number two on the operating table.

Flight of the spinal chords

A box of the new wracks, a wraith and a rather frenzied kit bashing spree resulted in this nasty customer.

I've had the idea to make a different looking haemo out of the wraith for awhile and finally we got the wrack kit to  provide some necessary extra bits!
Gonna leave it be for awhile and get back to it after some pondering... It's not 100 % yet - but it's a start. Any improvement ideas are more than welcome!

Heart of iron

Many cultists of Mhorrigot ritually replace their hearts with mechanical implants, making them - quite literally - heartless.

Some go ever further and rid themselves of their soft human bodies altogether and implant their living brains into robotic bodies. While superficially resembling servitors, these hulking constructs retain all their free will, though the process leaves them cold and utterly void of human emotion.

Roboreaper

Work on the mhorrigotii mech continues. Changed the marine head to a scion helmet and added a cowl with that distinctive widows peak that's becoming a signum for the mhorrigotii cultists.

I'll add a few more wires, but apart from that he's starting to look pretty finished.

We can make him stronger, faster... Eviler.

Some bionic heavy reinforcements for the Mhorrigotii minions.

Not finished by a longshot, there's chains, nails and tattered cloth to add, but it's a start.

League of Assassins

The cult of Mhorrigot grows...

Finished the new member of the band:

Here's a groupshot with the rest of the gang. I think that should be enough spears and scythes...

And here's a work in progress death cult assassin:
