Bones

Cult Biologis Fleshseer Bones painted and ready to join the away team.

"It's worse than that - he's dead, Jim!"

I'll be back in 2014 with a round-up of Officio Convertorums first year!

Underhive scum

Last night in a flurry of inspiration (which might have something to do with the Ravenor Omnibus I'm reading) I put together a whole bunch of minis and finished up the chainsaw warrior. I was going for a classic mid 90s Necromunda look for these (well, exept the cultist).

Death Cultist of Mhorrigot

Chainsaw warrior

I've been feeling a bit stuck in a rut lately, and haven't had much inspiration for painting (theres some pretty funky primed builds standing around on my desk but they deserve the proper enthusiasm ) .
That said there's been a lot of playing around with bits, but not much has come of it. I might actually have reached the point where I have too many bitz... Constraints can be liberating you know.

Last night however, I put together this guy as an homage to the classic game "Chainsaw Warrior" (and, of course, Evil Dead):

Lieutenant Nyota

Very work-in-progress, but the two gun matrix jump pose works pretty well methinks.

The choice of head was inspired by Migsulas latest female inquisitor - with the top knot removed she actually has the same bob hairdo as Uhura in the series...

Expendable

Introducing Crewman no.6 and Crewman no.4.

Crewman no.5 was unfortunately vapourised by a mysterious godlike entity on Altair 4.

To boldly go

Well, with Bones finished it was time to get to grips with the main man himself in this little project I'd like to call "Rogue Trek 40.000". Let me introduce Rogue Trader Captain Tiberius Kirke:

"Khaaaaaaaaan!!!"

Tiberius is a rather dashing Rogue Trader on a fifty year mission to explore strange new worlds ( putting them under the Imperiums rule ) and to seek out new life and new civilisations ( sometimes not destroing them! ). Aboard his mighty cruiser "Inceptum" he, and his trusty crew, boldly goes where no man has gone before.

Though in many ways an exemplary servant of the Imperium, Tiberius is under investigation from the Ordo Xenos for a string of rather sordid affairs with xenos females.

On away missions he often brings along a few anonymous crewmen.
They have a tendency not to come back in one piece.

Here's a mock up of crewman no.6:

"Inceptus - you're breaking up. What's that you say? A giant monster behind me?"

In other news - I've also managed to get my hands on a pot of Agrellan Earth - Citadels new crackly paint. It works rather well I must say and adds a lot of detail to a base. With a drybrush and a wash or two you can get some really interesting results. Here's a testbase:

"Dammit Jim!

I'm a fleshseer - not a sorcerer!"

Cult Biologis Fleshseer Bones is more or less ready for paint:

=I=

Next up - Rouge Trader Captain J.Tiberius Kirk.

An apple a day...

...keeps the cult biologis fleshseer away.

Thunder!!

Well, that was quick!

I like how this guy turned out - he's got a very puritan air, but the hunched posture and slightly off proportions hint at mutation.

He shall be known as "Thunder" as an homage to a character from a swedish radio show that you've probably never heard of.

Book and Hammer

Huzza! Two new inquisitorial retuine members join the ranks.

The guy with the book is a revised version of a priest conversion I did this summer that never felt right for some reason.

I like his moustasche... Makes him look like Sam Elliot.

It's a wrack, people!!

I took a break from the truscale marines that's been my main focus the past months - wanted to do something completely different...

The result was this rather creepy looking wrack to go with the serpentine Acothyst made a while ago.

I think this'll be the blueprint for all my wracks - it's really a pretty simple conversion, but nonetheless quite effective.

Metal warrior

Oh yeah. I listened to Manowar as a kid. Wanna make something of it?

Here's Iron Father Theremine in a more-or-less finished state:

I say more-or-less as there's a few details left but I sort of got bored on the finishing line. Gonna leave him be for awhile a focus on something else.

More machine now than man

Finally some real progress on the Iron Hand marine:

I think he's imposing enough to be an Iron Father. As most of my names are nicked from music history in one way or another, I find "Iron Father Theremine" quite fitting.

To be or not to be

Yes, I know Hamlet doesn't say those lines while holding "The Skull", but I squandered the correct quote on the last post.

Anyway - the Iron Hand conversion is nearing completion.

I have to admit I'm really, really, pleased with this conversion.
It's like a little one-model diorama...
And, although the "contemplating a skull" pose may be a rather overused cliché it works here nonetheless.

I'll add some details like rivets and a parchment or two, but apart from that it's more or less done.

Jobs a good 'un.

Alas, poor Yorick...

Here's the true scale Iron Hand I was talking about earlier:

I really like the Iron Hands with all that grim-dark mechanicus stuff going on. One of the few marine chapters apart from Grey Knights (and a few others) I find truly compelling from a modelling perspective.

EDIT:

Here's a take with a different pose and head.

Sense of scale

Hello.

Haven't had as much hobbytime as usual - hence the (at least for me) rather sporadic communiques...

I have had some time for hobbying though, and that's been spent on creating two new truescale Mortifactor marines ( on none other than Inq 28s Commisar Molotovs suggestion) tthat'll serve as NPC characters in a game of inquisimunda at Warhammer World  this month. More on this later on.

Anyway, on to the pics - here's the first one , "Sargeant Danzig":

And here's the second one (obviously a work in progress):

I've gone completely nuts for these truescale marines lately (as you might have noticed) and are also working on two other ones - a Deathwatch killteam member and an Iron Hand marine of some sort.
