Mercs

I've been out of mojo for quite a while, but a look at PDHs new mercenaries gave me a much needed dose of inspiration. (They can be viewed here: http://s3.zetaboards.com/The_Ammobunker/topic/7506461/46/ )

I bought a box of the new 'stealer cultists and got going. Here's the first one:

And here's a work in progress shot of the second one:

Well see where this is going... nice being back to modelling at any rate!

  1. The first chap is lovely but that second one is stunning. The low slung shot gun and general posing with that head says grizzled vet surveying the land. Lovely

    1. Thanks Muppet! I also dig number two - there's something blanchean about him.

    2. NRA : Nestorian Redneck Rampage... :). Ok Jokeless, don't know if it because of the shotgun, or the beard, but this mini got something of an enclosed by force civilian... Can't wait to see more like him.

  3. The first guy looks like one of the Pirates from Metabarons. I may have to pinch that one.

    1. Great reference - the gun needs a few more barrels and lots of optics to look like a Giménez drawing though...

  4. PDH is a wizard when it comes to conversions. No wonder you were inspired. :)

Love this bloke - would like to see a small killteam in the same uniform/armour.

    1. He's a genious - his minis were one of the major reasons I got into inq28.

I'm doing these one at a time - we'll see where we end up...

  5. Loves these guys (and usual sublime paint job on the finished one).

40k needs more mercenaries/pirates/gangsters/beat cops/thugs to hold up the Inquisitor, or be smashed by the sole surviving space marine. Otherwise it is pitched battle all the time, and why not show up with an Imperial Knight and allied psyker to that battle?

  6. Awesome conversions Jeff, I really like the grittiness the cultist's bodies give them - almost a dystopian feel

  7. First post, but I hope I'm gonna make many more (need to set up a proper name too XD ). That guy with the helmet is great! I notice the metal is more glossy than the usual Leadbelcher-Ironbreaker, is that another brand? Because since GW changed the colours I still feel the need to have a glossy, non-textured metal for some works...

And yes, the new cultists are one of the most versatile kits ever to make conversions XD
