Korsakov

The Inquisitor Korsakov build is nearing completion. 

Added the obligatory smattering of purity seals, shortened the mace somewhat (at Mr.Wiers suggestion) and gave him some hair to de-marinify him somewhat. 

It makes him look a bit like Peter Cushing which of course is a good thing. 

Also updated the repentia I made a while ago with a new head from the dark elf cavalry kit. 

Oh yes - she is now a space ninja. 

Blanchitsu

Finally it's out! 

It's been a long wait (I've been keeping the articles existance to myself for half a year) but in this month's White Dwarf, John Blanche's column "Blanchitsu" focuses on my creations. Not only is getting my minis featured in WD a childhood's dream come true, but on top of that John's also written a very heartwarming introduction.

It's also a delight looking at proper photos of the mini's (instead of my cruddy iPhone camera shots)...

Thank you so much for this John. 

I'd also like to thank Peter Hudson/PDH for bringing the minis to GW HQ and a for his splendid repair job on Prokofiev (who lost some of his studs while in the hands of the postal service). 

First batch of 2014

Hello dear readers, and welcome to the first real update of 2014. 

Here what's on the workbench at the moment: 

Hardline puritan inquisitor Korsakov. 

Needs some grimdarking/wierding up methinks - a servoskull or something of that sort. Apart from that pretty happy with this guy so far.

Also in the works are two more truescale marines. 

Not quite as pleased with these guys though. We'll have to see what I'll do with them...

Recap

2013 was quite a year.

I started this blog in late february and now, ten months later, it would be quite an understatement to say that was a pretty good decision. 

Through Officio Convertorum I've come in touch with a vibrant community of modellers that continuosly inspire, challenge and completely astound me with their work. Kari, Mikko, Migs, Kraut, JRN, Neil, Mol and many, many, others. 

I've also made some real life friends, among these are PDH/ Peter Hudson - a pillar of the inq28 community and the main inspiration for this blog, the illustrious mr. John Blanche (who needs no further introduction), Tammy (Tears of Envy), Tim (Tears of Istvan) and Jon Flindall. 

The Convertorum has also spurred me on as a modeller and painter - it's just more fun when you know people you respect are looking - and I really feel I've developed a lot these past ten months. 

It's been quite a productive year to say the least. Here's a group shot of  (most of) the models I've made this year:

The plan for 2014 is to do some bigger stuff. Not necessarily vehicles (although I have to finish up that Dakka Jet...) but rather monsters, robots, walking thrones, dreads - that sort of thing. Mix it up a little.

Last night in a flurry of inspiration (which might have something to do with the Ravenor Omnibus I'm reading) I put together a whole bunch of minis and finished up the chainsaw warrior. I was going for a classic mid 90s Necromunda look for these (well, exept the cultist).

I've been feeling a bit stuck in a rut lately, and haven't had much inspiration for painting (theres some pretty funky primed builds standing around on my desk but they deserve the proper enthusiasm ) .

That said there's been a lot of playing around with bits, but not much has come of it. I might actually have reached the point where I have too many bitz... Constraints can be liberating you know.

Last night however, I put together this guy as an homage to the classic game "Chainsaw Warrior" (and, of course, Evil Dead):

Very work-in-progress, but the two gun matrix jump pose works pretty well methinks.

The choice of head was inspired by Migsulas latest female inquisitor - with the top knot removed she actually has the same bob hairdo as Uhura in the series...

Crewman no.5 was unfortunately vapourised by a mysterious godlike entity on Altair 4. 

To boldly go

Well, with Bones finished it was time to get to grips with the main man himself in this little project I'd like to call "Rogue Trek 40.000". Let me introduce Rogue Trader Captain Tiberius Kirke:

"Khaaaaaaaaan!!!"

Tiberius is a rather dashing Rogue Trader on a fifty year mission to explore strange new worlds ( putting them under the Imperiums rule ) and to seek out new life and new civilisations ( sometimes not destroing them! ). Aboard his mighty cruiser "Inceptum" he, and his trusty crew, boldly goes where no man has gone before.

Though in many ways an exemplary servant of the Imperium, Tiberius is under investigation from the Ordo Xenos for a string of rather sordid affairs with xenos females.

On away missions he often brings along a few anonymous crewmen. 

They have a tendency not to come back in one piece.

Here's a mock up of crewman no.6:

In other news - I've also managed to get my hands on a pot of Agrellan Earth - Citadels new crackly paint. It works rather well I must say and adds a lot of detail to a base. With a drybrush and a wash or two you can get some really interesting results. Here's a testbase:
